Soul filling nourishment.

I have been spending some quiet, contemplative time thinking deeply about what nourishes my soul, the deepest part of myself.

I am not talking about quick fixes such as the latest shiny new thing or a handful of delightful chocolates.

I am talking about filling up the inner part of me. I have perfected the quick fill me up type of nourishment. I think we all have. I know what gets me by until the next quick fix of nourishment. I need the kind of nourishment that is still present when the meal is over and cleaned up. I need the kind of nourishment that does not leave me starved later. I am exploring what brings my cup to full and then allows me to spill over and nourish others.

I am committed to adding soul filling nourishment to my life. When I reflect and see what sustains me, it seems quite mundane and simple. I struggled with this because I thought my ideas should be more flashy, more profound, more earth-shattering. I kept thinking I would discover the magic A-ha pill that would instantly put my tank on full.

What I have discovered is that the magic A-ha pill is not doing something one time and then waiting until I felt drained or frazzled and doing it again. The insight I have been looking for is I have to continually drizzle and sprinkle nourishment into myself every single day. This seems so common sense but I truly was not able to see that until now.

This insight has turned my idea of self care on it's head. It is rocked my world from side to side.

I am responsible to figure out what nourishes me and then find time, energy, money, resources etc to add that to my life.

I must say this journey to explore me is getting juicier and more exciting as each day clicks by.

My drizzle of nourishments today is to get my new spring haircut and pick a bouquet of wildflowers for the kitchen table.

    2. Elizabeth I had to completely burn out before I learnt this lesson. That was now 8 years ago and I'm now the happiest and healthiest that I've ever been. Some people just have to learn the hard way. xxoo
